The Impact of the National Minimum Wage on Small & Medium Sized Businesses in the Cleaning & Security Sectors

Aims & objectives

A second project for the Low Pay Commission, in 2001, on the National Minimum Wage was undertaken after the NMW had been operating for over a year. This was confined to the cleaning and security sectors and targeted primarily on small and medium sized firms. As before, the survey was designed to trace the impact of the NMW on firm employment and business practices.
